Guest experiences at Cherry Valley Hotel are highly inconsistent, oscillating between excellent hospitality and service for events to significant concerns regarding room cleanliness and facility maintenance. Many visitors appreciate the incredible staff and charming atmosphere, while others report pest issues, broken amenities, and extreme value discrepancies.
We stayed at Cherry Valley hotel on two separate occasions and had two Very different experiences. During our first stay (just my husband and I), we greatly enjoyed our 2 night getaway. The atmosphere upon arrival was warm and inviting. Ali, the front desk manager greeted us upon arrival and messaged me shortly after check in to ensure our room was to our satisfaction. The room was very clean and the bed was actually very comfortable. I was also pleased with the size of the tub as well as the brand of soap and lotion (these were also the same brand as shampoo, conditioner, and body wash) as they were made with natural ingredients and smelled wonderful (light but musky Our second experience was actually much different than our first. Upon checking into our room, we noticed that the mold in the bathroom (particularly in the tub) was excessive, and that the bathtub seemed unclean. We immediately brought this to the attention of the front desk, as we are all allergic to mold. They changed our room, with apologies. Upon checking into our second room, we noticed that the conditions were not much different. Conversations with the front desk would indicate that all double beds rooms maintain these similar standards. We were also very discouraged by the apparent lack of cleanliness. These rooms definitely lacked the clean, fresh smell that our first room had. The bathroom was very small (small tub and toilet in a very small room, sink outside the room; our first room boasted a wonderful (Clean!) large soaking tub in a very spacious bathroom. We also found a plethora of crumbs and even what must have been an old piece of fruit or something under the sofa (as we were checking to find a misplaced item) soon after arriving! During our second stay, we visited the pool with our daughters (we did not get to do this during our first stay) and were extremely disappointed at the state of the pool and hot tub. The hot tub was completely out of commission (this was not advertised on the website or even at the front desk upon arrival. Hopefully, the closure was due to a complete remediation and rebuild-see pictures!). The pool was grimy and gross, to put it politely. The walls of the pool had words and letters written on them in the plethora of scum. It was absolutely repulsive. My daughters jumped in, unassuming, but what was meant to be hours long enjoyment, ended up being a few minutes until we realized the disgusting state of this pool. I am convinced that it has not been cleaned in many many many months. The Craftsman’s Kitchen (on site) was delightful. The food was good (The Cali Chicken Sandwich was my favorite; on our second visit, with our daughters, they enjoyed the breakfast platters and the fries). The fruit was over ripe but all in all, it was a great meal. Our server, Morgan, was absolutely delightful! She was attentive, made conversation and even gave our girls a little gift upon leaving. We arrived a bit later than anticipated and I believe she may have had to extend her shift a bit but she could not have been more pleasant, she definitely made our experience better. All in all, this hotel receives 3 stars from us. had we only reviewed after our first stay (having not visited the pool or hot tub area, and not experiencing the additional rooms) we would have given this hotel 5 Star review! Cherry Valley Hotel, really could be a beautiful, wonderful retreat with an updated (or at least thoroughly stripped and cleaned) pool/hot tub area and updated/remodeled double room areas that are required to maintain the same cleanliness standards as the single-bed rooms. We may check back in to see if these changes are ever made (we have family in Columbus and stay several times a year) as we would be happy to stay again in the future if they are.
Had a wonderful time with my beautiful bride at Cherry Valley Hotel. Even though there was a snafu with the bar tender, the front desk lady (Nicole) made up for the delay. She helped make the stay even more special and we enjoyed our night. On a side, the pool was the perfect temperature.
Very friendly service and continently located. I appreciate the nice food/bar options. Everyone we talked to was very nice and helpful. The rooms could use some extra attention and care; it looks like repairs are made by folks with limited experience. There is a lot that needs to patched, repaired or replaced. Could use a professional hotel level touch up.
????? We’ve stayed at the Cherry Valley Hotel and Event Center in Newark, Ohio, during every season, and it’s become our absolute favorite spot! The courtyard is always a peaceful oasis—relaxing and beautifully maintained with lush greenery, water features, and that serene vibe no matter if it’s spring blooms, summer sunshine, fall colors, or winter coziness. A huge shoutout to Nicole and the entire friendly staff—they’re consistently warm, attentive, and go out of their way to make every visit special. Their genuine hospitality turns a good stay into an exceptional one. We’ve also had wonderful experiences hosting small company meetings here. It’s a fantastic place to gather for team building, training sessions, or collaborative work—the event spaces are versatile, well-equipped, and inspiring, with plenty of room to focus and connect. The combination of professional meeting facilities and the relaxing surroundings (including that amazing courtyard for breaks) makes it ideal for productive yet enjoyable corporate getaways. Clean, comfortable rooms, great onsite dining, and top-notch service all around. Cherry Valley is perfect for both personal escapes and professional events. We’ll keep coming back
I was SNOWED in for my first visit! But, they were prepared & had staff stay on hand for guests! I appreciated the cleanliness of the rooms, readily available front desk assistance, & the on site restaurant/pub! The courtyard gave a beautiful view & every meal I had was delicious. The staff genuinely wanted to make the stay pleasant for all guests during such a difficult time! 12-14 inches of snow! And when it was time to leave, Kobi & Jake shoveled many of our cars out, which I thought was above & beyond. I like high quality & I’ll admit staying here was a quality stay, including, the very inviting fire place & fresh blankets to cozy up in front of!
Don't let the reviews full you. This hotel is very run down. You pull up to it and think it looks impressive. Wait until you get to your room. It's dated and the balcony has so much wood rot you are afraid to go out there. If you are just booking a weekend stay good luck for good service. This place caterers to mass bookings and forgets everyone else. Don't waste your money
We have had nothing but issues being here. The staff accused my husband of smoking weed inside, wasn't us. They had 3 days in less than 2 weeks where the fire alarm went off multiple times a day. Once it was the fire Marshall, and they couldn't announce it when he arrived. The second time was a Sunday, and we had left for a short time and the fire doors were still locked. The last time was during the week and it went off 5 times because they had a ceiling collapse. They have lots of parties but do not save spaces for paying guests, so there is no parking. Last night, I ate their salad and got food poisoning. They told me, "oh so sorry, we will pass it on to the staff". I don't get sick and i never puke. Lets just say it all came back up. They only offered 15% off for all the fire alarm inconveniences and the sliding door is broken in our room.It never worked properly. I try not to complain unless there is an issue, but this place doesn't take it seriously. The room was not a super clean room with stains on the sliding glass bathroom door. The caulking around the tub is bad, it drains poorly. As nice as this hotel looks, it is not as nice as they say. I am staying here until we can find something else but have not found anything yet. They talk about a hot tub on their website but it is broken. For the type of place that this is, they should have no issues, at all. The ice machine doesn't work. The maids just talk for hours and don't clean the rooms. The thermostat is always cold in the room unless it goes to 72.
What a great place to stay! Love the staff here as well. Alex at the bar/lounge is a great conversationalist and bartender! Always very helpful! Passion is also very good at bringing out your smile! Rooms are nice, the grounds are lovely. So much positive to say about this place and the staff!
This Hotel we picked for one night on Thanksgiving 2025. We had checked in about 2:30 pm put our bags in the room and off to dinner. The dinner was good buffet, shrimp was good and Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings and dessert. We left a generous tip due to employees being here on a holiday and working instead of being with there families. We had romance package with a upgraded suite, chocolate covered strawberry's , prosecco ,slippers etc. We snuggled up for the night watch some TV. We awakened in the morning to find roach around the coffee maker, not sure why the Hotel seems clean no food or garbage around, my wife awakened to find a giant , what appeared to be coffee stain bleeding through the one sheet they had on the bed ,after further investigation the mattress was brown and the sheet must of soaked up some of the coffee from a previous stay, no mattress pad or protective cover, we had addressed the matter after breakfast with the front desk but she really couldn't do much and no manager around at check out. I do not like posting this matter until speaking with a Manager but we have been home for some time now and not even a phone call or a email. From the reviews from others it does not seem like there will be any refund . The Hotel could use some updating. Oh and by the way after breakfast my wife decided to get a cup of coffee to go , we proceeded to the front desk to explain the situation and then off to our vehicle . While driving down the road my wife's coffee began to leak out all over her and our vehicle now we have coffee everywhere. My guess at this time is that someone else suffered the same when they went back to there room to relax watch some TV while sitting in bed. The hot coffee must be melting the glue that is at the bottom on the cup. I feel bad for the employees here they may need to find another source of income . I feel this hotel is about to be sold and once again try another go at it. The heat would not go above 68 degrees which is fine while sleeping but taking a shower and lounging around is alittle bit of a chill, thermostat set at 71. Unable to find a way to post pics . Hotel Manager has contacted us and made right of the situation and we will consider a future stay. Thanks again to all employees here they are working hard to make everyone's stay a wonderful experience.
A little off the beaten path, but a good value. Rolled in at 2am, so didnt get to see the area upon arrival, but lobby is AMAZING. Front desk staff at 2am was REALLY kind and friendly. Room was really nice! BUT... HVAC system did us dirty and was stuck on heat. We got into bed around 0230, and by 0400 it was 88 degrees in the room even though we tried to switch to cooling. We had to call front desk and switch rooms. So at 0445 there we were lugging our bags to the total opposite side of the property. View off balcony was amazing. Breakfast buffet was OK. Eggs seemed powdered? But bacon was EXCELLENT. The breakfast casserole just seemed like a mash up yesterday's breakfast buffet. Coffee was bitter, and wait staff was SO nice, but seemed like they needed help, at a buffet. STILL... The overall atmosphere was REALLY nice!!
