This property offers a prime Dublin location with well-equipped suites and 24-hour amenities, appealing to long-term and family stays. However, recent reviews highlight severe lapses in maintenance, cleanliness, guest safety, and occasional severe customer service issues.
Where do I begin? The "24hr front desk" is essentially nonexistent. I had to call an "emergency" number to have someone eventually come and check me in at 9pm. Even after asking to add my GF's name to the room, they still only handed me 1 key. After I asked for a 2nd, they gave it to me, but deactivated the first key (found out when I couldn't get in the room and they obviously weren't at the desk when I tried to get 2 working keys). I had also called ahead and asked for a feather-free room and the front desk person said she couldn't guarantee it because she didn't know what had feathers and she didn't have ANY supervisor or manager to call (thankfully this wasn't an issue). The deadbolt for the room doesn't work, probably because the door lock system is missing pieces. The bathroom has visible mold by visible water damage. There is also an access panel in the bathroom that they attempted to keep closed with gray duct tape. There was barely any silverware, at most 2 pieces of spoons and forks. There is 3 plates, none of which match. The only pot is huge, like a 10qt or something. There is a frying pan with the nonstick coating severely chipped. I also attempted to use the oven, which they provided a very used and dirty pan. The oven itself hasn't been cleaned in a long time (the stainless steel rack was covered in food). The bathroom light is missing the globe - it is just the light bulbs. The shower curtain has 2 weird slits in the middle that allows water to puddle on the bathroom floor. There is an obvious patch on the ceiling next to it that hasn't been sanded/painted. The shower faucet isn't flush with the wall. The bed has a noticeable dip from being worn down. The phone only has presets to contact the front desk or reservations - no numbers and it doesn't work. The front door has also been forcibly opened and is difficult to ooen/close. The grounds, while mostly free of litter, are not well maintained. Smoking is only allowed in certain areas, but I passed by 2 breezeways where people were actively smoking. The laundry room was absolutely disgusting and one of the washing machines didn't work. The trash was piled up about 2ft above the trash can (hadn't been emptied in a while). Overall - if everything else wasn't sold out, I wouldn't have even stayed the 1 night.
Upon entering the room, we noticed a vape device on the floor and a water bottle stored in the freezer. Additionally, a cabinet door was left open. These observations led us to question whether the room had been properly cleaned. We approached the front desk to request a reclean; however, this service was not available. The front desk staff contacted the cleaner, who claimed ownership of the vape and water bottle. This response raised concerns about the professionalism and attentiveness of the cleaning staff, leading us to doubt the thoroughness of the cleaning process. We requested to speak with the general manager to explore possible solutions, including the option to clean the room ourselves and be reimbursed for cleaning supplies, as none were provided by the hotel. This request was declined. When we inquired about changing rooms, we were informed that the hotel was fully booked and were ultimately told that we would need to check out.
Ive been staying here for almost 6 months now, and have not had any major problems, other than neighbors being loud sometimes, but thats everywhere. It was and continues to be a great choice to stay and look forward to the pool in the summer! The property manager is great and always helpful. Always smiles and say hello when you pass her. And free coffee in the lobby helps a lot.
Honest review with no hard feelings. The hotel rooms size and cleanliness is amazing for the price(Super+), but the management is horrible (GM Lisa & Manager Marcus). I know Marcus and all housekeeping and maintenance lives at the hotel and I believe Lisa does too. I booked a week stay from Sunday to Sunday (7days), twice and kept the same room a total of 14 days. On the 12th day(Friday) I left to go visit my mother in WV. I re-booked the same room on Saturday, called the hotel to make sure my I got the same & talked to Marcus. When I returned on Sunday, everything in my room (food, utensils, etc..) was gone. Talked to Lisa, she told me housekeeping thought I left because I took my suitcases. I wrote a email to the company explaining what happened and Lise rudely replied telling me "this isn't an apartment, they can go in my room whenever they want. They lock stopped working on my door, Marcus broken in and said he'll get it fixed in the morning. It didn't but I cracked the window so I come get in just in case, had to climb in the window for 3 days. My last time there, I booked with Vio.com and when I arrived I was told I was banned from the hotel. Marcus wouldn't even come talk to me to explain why, told the front desk lady on the phone I used a fake website. I complained to Sonesta Corporate office, never heard back from them, but It's all good now. I have new apartment here now in Columbus & I'm paying less then I was at hotels for a month. That's only one per diem check lol.
Great location, nice Customer service, easy to locate. Separate front door entrance which I enjoyed. I love the fireplace, the kitchen was great, full size stove and frig. The bathroom was great! I felt safe and I was able to see my vehicle from my room which was located and thw first floor. Well lite parking lot. Definitely would stay again!
? Five Stars! Exceptional Stay at Sonesta Suites Columbus ? ?This hotel truly deserves a five-star rating! The location is easy accessible, and the rooms are incredibly clean and well-maintained. What truly sets this Sonesta Suites apart is the staff—especially the manager—who are super courteous, professional, and on point with every request. Fantastic service combined with the best room rates around makes this my top choice in Columbus. Highly recommend!
Booked a 2 bedroom suite for Veterans day weekend. When we arrived the Hotel was a little rundown but nothing prepared me for what I was about to find when I went to my room. I was booked in room 1066 and as I walked up the stairs I could tell this was going to be bad. There was a dog cage that met me at the top of the stairs with old torn door mats on the ground. The keys didnt work at first and it must've of been a sign from God that this was not the place for us. I had to drive all the way back to the front desk which is in another building. Got that fixed and opened the room to only be greeted by the strong smell of weed. The front door had water damage so bad the paint was peeling off and the kitchen had paint peeling and was dirty. The carpet had stains and gum stuck on it in every room. The shower heads were broken and off. Lamps were broken, headboards to the beds were torn. The worst was the couch. It was stained so bad and smelled horrible. The pictures were not the same as online. It is a bait and switch. I've should've listened to the other reviews. I only booked this hotel for the full kitchen and I had stayed there almost 10 years ago. Did not think it went that downhill but I was proven wrong. Once I saw the state of the room, not even 10 minutes after checking in. I was at the lobby building asking for a refund and booking the closest Hilton on my app. The front desk lady did give me my refund and let me know that the room they gave me was a room they rented to someone who lived there for 3 years. This was so disgusting that they even didnt clean it or change anything. Management obviously does not care. Avoid this place at all costs!!
I love it here The staff is really nice! There's been one maid: Akita that has made my experience very smooth from the moment I moved in. The front desk girls are really good. The general manager is very nice and welcoming. They treat you like family. There's a coffee machine in the lobby that will make you any type of coffee you want. There's a pool and a basketball court laundry. The grounds are kept up really nice it's quiet. You can't hear your neighbors through the walls. I would recommend staying here to anyone. There's a beautiful walking path behind the building covered with foliage. Starbucks is right down the street you could walk if you wanted. Dublin as a town is very safe The police roll through just to make sure it's safe. If you're looking to visit I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a nice quiet place with all the amenities of home. Dogs are welcome
No breakfast available. No elevator. Not all of the rooms are up to par. Initially I got assigned a room that was locked from the inside and I had to wait an hour to settle in after they decided to switch me to a different room. The room was okay, other than the door not closing all the way. So different bugs easily got inside the room. I ended up placing a towel on the floor on the bottom of the door to not let any air out of the room or to avoid letting any more bugs in. The couch also had visible stains on it so it was unusable. Idk I feel like I had better experiences at quality inns. Just okay.
Terrible Experience – Would Not Recommend This was an absolutely awful stay from start to finish. The internet didn’t work at all, and the room had a terrible fishy smell that lingered from the refrigerator all the way to the bed. The property is located in a very rough neighborhood, with large groups of teenagers constantly hanging around the basketball court and parking lot, openly smoking weed day and night. It felt extremely unsafe. The room itself was dirty, with no sign of regular cleaning or basic upkeep. There was zero customer service—no one seemed available or willing to help with any issues. To make matters worse, the place was severely overpriced for what it offered. Dealing with Hotels.com didn’t help either; their lack of support only made the entire experience more frustrating. Overall, this stay was a complete nightmare and felt like a total rip-off. I almost forgot there were bugs everywhere and the carpets were stained. It appeared to have black mold in the bathroom
