This Holiday Inn Express exhibits starkly mixed reviews, oscillating between exceptional service and severe operational failures. While recent guests report friendly staff and clean rooms, many frequent visitors warn of deep-seated maintenance issues, a rough neighborhood, and billing disputes, making it a risky choice for a comfortable overnight stay.

When you see expo you probably think this will be a nice hotel. Unfortunately they have put a bandaid on a run down building and made it appear nice. Im staying here a week for work because I prepaid thinking it would be nice. Unfortunately I was surprised to find that this hotel is far from it. Cracks in the ceiling, ice makers that dont work, sketchy neighbor"hood" front desk staff was friendy but sketchy all the same. I shouldnt have to double check my truck bed to make sure nothing was stolen in the mornings when leaving for work. Coffee machine was down and only ice machine working was on the second floor. The tub stopper didnt work. Update: During the stay two of our company trucks got broken into and $5k of tooling was stolen.

It was a good location for visiting OSU but beyond that…there’s a lot left to desire. Our toilet seat was literally falling off and we asked the front desk was almost belligerent when it came to helping. He let me know they didn’t have a maintenance person any more and he couldn’t help. I asked if I could borrow a flat head screwdriver but he refused that too. No apology for the inconvenience…only got “we’ll fix it after you leave”. It was a simple fix that takes a few minutes…but the gentleman at the front desk at 11:30pm offered no solutions.

The gentleman and lady that checked me in were incredibly friendly. That being said, it is in a rough part of town. There was a drug bust at the Wendy's next door while I was staying there. Additionally, I was charged for a miscellaneous damage in a room that was in rough condition to begin with. Don't stay here, go somewhere nicer, somewhere where they don't charge you extra while you worry about having your car broken into.

Worst experience I have had in any hotel for years! Stayed for two nights with my daughter. On arrival I was notified that the elevator was broken, and WiFi was broken for the first night, too. I was also notified that even "light housekeeping service" will be provided only upon request. The second day I call front desk to replace two shower towels and was told that they don't have any! When I continued asking when they will have any available, she put me on-hold and never pick up the phone again. The chair also has stains on it. Big regret for staying in this hotel. Any motel can do better!

We stayed here for the Hozier concert at Crew Stadium. I was so nervous because I read all the horrible reviews. I was stressing because it was myself, my mother and mother in law. We got there at 3pm. Just in time to heat Hozier sound check from the parking lot. We got into our room right away. It was clean. I was worried what we’d find but we were all pleasantly surprised. Lobby did smell like weed but I feel like that’s common these days. 15 min walk to the concert. Bad area but I never felt unsafe. There was security around on the main road because of the concert. Walking back was fine. It was pouring rain but we walked with a large group of other hotel people. We had breakfast when we left. It was decent. Good for being included with the room. I think it was sausage and cinnamon rolls. The hotel was sold out because of the concert so they had to keep the food coming. Staff was friendly. Overall, it was a great stay!

Horrible customer service By the manager. The hotel made a mistake by canceling my room when it should not have been canceled so whenever I showed up to check in I had to book a room at the current rate. They would not honor my original rate for the original room that I booked even though it was their mistake. I talked to IHG several times I was told I would get a call back within 48 hours from the manager and then the owner of the hotel. Those calls never happened. I then called weeks later the manager at the hotel and he was not able to explain why my reservation got canceled. And didn’t even know how to cancel a reservation, apparently. But refused to honor the rate that I was supposed to have had. For reference the difference was $47 so not a ton of money, but they are unwilling to help any customer. The manager then hung up when I continued asking questions about how my reservation could have gotten canceled in the first place. Do not use this hotel. ( they also like to throw in $9 a day parking even though they are not near the city without telling you)

The room was dirty & smelled like smoke upon check in. We were only there for 2 nights so I didn’t want to complain. There was no room service during my stay. I was in the room working and requested a later check out, they offered me from 11 to 12. I had an important meeting scheduled last minute from 120-1230. I requested an extension for 30 minutes and was told no. I called IHG, the manager called me and said they had a lot going on and could not accommodate. I checked out at 12 like asked, and sat in the parking lot to take my meeting. Not one person checked in during the 30 minutes, no reason I wouldn’t have been able to stay for an extra 30 minutes (especially when check in is at 4:00). I guess being a high member with IHG doesn’t matter to this hotel management. Will never be back. Additionally, as I was leaving a cleaner was cleaning rooms on my floor with her baby strapped to her back and the car seat sitting in the hallway. I saw the car seat sitting the day before but didn’t realize a baby was actually in the room. So unprofessional.

amazing hotel and even better staff. long story short I booked a hotel via the internet and as soon as I entered? it was not safe. Thursday November 27, 1230 am I am in my car with my friend calling every hotel known to man. People are tired, there's no room, I get it. no judgements here. I finally get this Holiday inn, apologize and explain my situation and the front desk? "oh no!! thats horrible! first off no apologies. give me a minute and I will find something okay hun? youre safe now right? okay good." Instant relief. they find us a room for our stay, ask us how far we are and says they will be waiting for us. And they are! 1am Thanksgiving morning we arrive, they unlock the doors and get us check in, let us know how to call them with concerns, how they will make a room switch needed if we dont feel safe and assure us we can always come down. the whole stay for the 27th-30th? utter bliss. amazing beds, no neighbor noise, staff kind and friendly and asking how we are, and just honestly? We felt safe and cared for. This is the hotel to go to for not only easy access to the highway but for probably the best Hotel staff I have ever encountered. especially during Thanksgiving chaos and Ohio Versus Michigan chaos. thank you again and I wish I could give 10 out of 5 stars for how above and beyond everyone went for us. we will never forget your kindness

Room was clean and nice the pool was good and the hot tub was huge, the jets stopped working and they had someone come fix it within a couple hours. The breakfast was amazing and the breakfast staff worked extremely hard to make sure everything was stocked and clean. My keyless card wasn’t working for the gym and the front desk staffer noticed on the camera and walked down the hall to give me a new one, all the staff went above and beyond making sure our stay was good. Overall one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at ever.

Stay away from this hotel: The room #114 smell like urine and mattress was very low and sink to the ground. There are spots on the sheet. Bathroom is handicapped accessible but dirty and cracks on floor. We asked to switch room and front desk Nathalie refused to switch us to a different room unless we pay 30% more. We didn’t have choice but agreed. Then she said we can’t cancel the other room because it’s booked through Expedia. We got on the call with Expedia customer service and they called the front desk for us trying to cancel the room. But Nathalie refused and she told us it has to wait for manager approval in the morning. We were not happy with the way the hotel handle the situation and decided to switch to another hotel Hayatt which is far more clean and comfortable and cheaper. Until now we still haven’t been able to get our money back. The hotel charged us two rooms and two nights. We went back to the hotel trying to talk to the manager and he refused to review the issue. I just couldn’t believe a hotel with this kind of quality and service could charge over $300 a night (it was around OSU parents weekend) and the location with surrounding doesn’t seem safe. Meanwhile the Hyatt in a much nicer and convenient location (North High st.) only charge $255. We are glad we finally able to cut the losses and move to Hyatt. We want to post this to let everyone know you can get a much better hotel for the money Holiday Inn Express charge you.
